Archaic term for land owned by the national government, used in pre-modern and early modern Japanese contexts. Equivalent to modern 国有地.

In the Meiji period, much state-owned land was sold off to the private sector.
Compound of 官 (government) + 有 (possession) + 地 (land). The term reflects the administrative terminology of the Meiji and earlier periods.
