A subspecies of Japanese macaque endemic to Yakushima Island. Scientific name: Macaca fuscata yakui.
The Yakushima macaque lives only on Yakushima Island.

From 屋久 (Yaku, as in Yakushima) + 猿 (さる, monkey).
