Yayoi people
Historical term referring to the people of the Yayoi period in Japan (c. 300 BCE – 300 CE).
The Yayoi people are said to have introduced rice cultivation to Japan.
From 弥生 (Yayoi, the historical period) + 人 (person). The period name comes from the location in Tokyo where Yayoi pottery was first discovered.
