A drinking custom from the Miyako Islands, Okinawa, where a cup of awamori is passed around and each person chugs it in turn.

• 宮みや古こ島じまでは、宴えん会かいでオトーリをすることがよくある。

  On Miyako Island, they often do otōri at parties.

• オトーリの杯はいが回まわってきたら、一いっ気きに飲のみ干ほすのが礼れい儀ぎだ。

  When the otōri cup comes around, it's polite to chug it in one go.
