end-around carry
A computing term for a carry operation in which the carry bit from the most significant position is added to the least significant position, used in ones' complement arithmetic and cyclic redundancy checks.
In ones' complement representation, an end-around carry can occur.
Compound of 循環 (じゅんかん, 'circulation') + けた (桁, 'digit') + 上げ (あげ, 'carry'), literally 'circulating digit carry'.
