Describes a state of serious worry or mental distress, often over a prolonged period. More literary and intense than 悩む alone.

• 彼かれは将しょう来らいのことで憂うれい悩なやんでいる。

  He is deeply troubled about his future.

• 彼かの女じょは息子むすこの病びょう状じょうに憂うれい悩なやんだ。

  She anguished over her son's medical condition.
