noun
coercivity; coercive force
Technical term in physics and materials science; the magnetic field strength required to reduce the magnetization of a ferromagnetic material to zero after it has been saturated. Often contrasted with 保磁力 (coercivity in the context of permanent magnets).
See also: 保磁力
This magnetic material has high coercivity, so it is not easily affected by external magnetic fields.
Measuring coercive force requires specialized equipment.
A modern technical coinage.
