Conjunction used to introduce a result or conclusion based on the preceding context. Often used at the beginning of a sentence to summarize or draw a conclusion.

Usage patterns
- こうして〈事〉and so [event/result] came about
And so the two of them ended up getting married.
- こうして〈時〉が過ぎるand thus [a period of] time passes
