Primarily a philosophical term, especially in Cartesianism, referring to perceptions or ideas that are both clear and distinct. Also used more generally for having a clear, unclouded mind.
Descartes regarded clear and distinct perception as the criterion of truth.
After a night's sleep, my mind became clear and lucid.
