minarchism
A political philosophy advocating a minimal state limited to protecting individual rights; often contrasted with anarchism and larger government models.
Minarchism is a way of thinking that limits the role of government to national defense, maintaining public order, and the like.
Compound of 最小 (minimal) + 国家 (state) + 主義 (doctrine). A calque from English 'minarchism', itself coined from 'minimal' + 'archism' (rule).
