expression, noun

sun shower; rain while the sun shines

Refers to a brief rain shower that occurs while the sun is still shining. The expression comes from the folk belief that foxes hold their weddings during such weather.

It's a fox's wedding today—it's raining even though the sun is shining.

expression, noun

procession of will-o'-the-wisps; jack-o'-lantern parade

Refers to a line of mysterious lights (will-o'-the-wisps) seen at night, traditionally imagined as a fox wedding procession. This sense is more folkloric and less commonly used in everyday conversation.

I heard a story about seeing a fox's wedding procession on a mountain path at night.
