Ryūkyū tatami; Okinawan-style tatami
A type of tatami mat traditionally from Okinawa, known for its durability. The facing is woven from Shichito matgrass (ichii) rather than the common igusa rush, giving it a distinct texture and longer lifespan.
Ryūkyū tatami are sturdier and last longer than ordinary tatami.
