Often used in the pattern 〜に病み付く to mean becoming addicted to or obsessed with something, usually in a positive or enthusiastic sense. Can also mean 'to fall ill', but this usage is less common in modern Japanese.

  He got addicted to gambling.

• このゲームは一いち度ど始はじめると病やみ付つくよ。
