reciprocity theorem
A principle in physics stating that the response at one point due to a source at another is symmetric under exchange of source and receiver, often applied in electromagnetism, acoustics, and structural mechanics.
The reciprocity theorem shows that the transmitting and receiving characteristics of an antenna are equal in electromagnetism.
Using the reciprocity theorem in structural mechanics, the displacement at one point due to a load at another can be calculated.
