Historical term for an official stipend or reward, especially one granted by a lord or the government in pre-modern Japan. Not used for modern salaries.

• 江え戸ど時じ代だい、武ぶ士しは藩はんから禄ろくをもらっていた。

  In the Edo period, samurai received a stipend from their domain.

• 彼かれは主しゅ君くんに忠ちゅう誠せいを尽つくし、その禄ろくを得えた。

  He served his lord faithfully and received his reward.
