A small piece of paper used for notes, labels, or tags. Often found in compounds like 付箋 (sticky note) or 処方箋 (prescription).
I put sticky notes in the book to mark important passages.

A physical tag or label, traditionally made of bamboo, wood, or ivory, used for identification or marking. Modern usage extends to any small label or tag.
An ivory tag was attached to the antique.
Standard kanji for paper slips, labels, and tags. The variant 籤 is also used but less common.
Alternate kanji form; may be encountered but 箋 is more typical.
The kanji 箋 originally referred to bamboo slips used for writing in ancient China. The reading せん is the on'yomi. The variant 籤 shares the same reading and similar meaning but is less common.
