pantograph (drawing instrument)
A mechanical device for copying a drawing or map to a different scale. Rare term; the loanword パンタグラフ is more common in modern Japanese.

Compound of 縮図 (shukuzu, 'reduced drawing') + 器 (ki, 'instrument'). The exact historical derivation is uncertain, but the term follows a standard pattern for naming technical instruments.
