繰くり上あがり

carry (in addition); increase in digit

Used in arithmetic when a column sum reaches 10 or more, causing a carry to the next higher place. Often contrasted with 繰り下がり (borrowing).

• 足たし算ざんで繰くり上あがりがあるときは、次つぎの位くらいに1を足たします。

  When there is a carry in addition, add 1 to the next place.

• この問もん題だいは繰くり上あがりが2回かいあります。

  This problem has two carries.
