Rare term for the act of gluing or attaching with glue. Modern Japanese more commonly uses 接着 or 糊付け.
Traditional gluing techniques are still used in some workshops today.
Compound of 膠 (にかわ, 'animal glue') and 付け (つけ, 'attaching'). The exact historical derivation is uncertain, but the word refers to the process of applying animal glue.
