harlequin glorybower
A deciduous shrub native to East Asia, known for its fragrant white flowers and bright blue berries. The leaves have a distinctive odor when crushed, hence the Japanese name くさぎ (臭木, 'stink tree').
The flowers of the harlequin glorybower have a sweet fragrance.
When I planted a harlequin glorybower in the garden, it bore blue berries in autumn.
