Fujiwhara effect
Meteorological term describing the interaction between two nearby cyclonic vortices. The spelling 'Fujiwara effect' is also seen.
When typhoons approach each other, they can move in complex ways due to the Fujiwhara effect.
Named after Japanese meteorologist Sakuhei Fujiwhara, who described the effect in 1921.
