milkfish
A common food fish in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, known scientifically as Chanos chanos.
In Taiwan, they farm milkfish.
Milkfish have many small bones in their belly.

The Japanese name is borrowed from the Taiwanese Hokkien name for the fish, 虱目魚 (sat-ba̍k-hî). The kanji spelling is ateji.
