sewing technique: folding fabric past the stitch to cover it

A specialized sewing term. Instead of folding exactly on the stitch line, the fold is placed about 2 mm deeper, and the excess is folded back over the stitch to conceal it.

• この縫ぬい方かたは被きせといって、ステッチを隠かくすのに使つかいます。

  This sewing method is called 'kise', and it is used to hide the stitches.
