rear footsweep (sumo)
A sumo technique where the attacker sweeps the opponent's rear foot from the outside, often while pulling the opponent forward.
彼は裾払いで相手を土俵に倒した。
He brought his opponent down with a rear footsweep.
Compound of 裾 (suso, 'hem' or 'lower part') and 払い (harai, 'sweep'), referring to sweeping the lower part of the opponent's leg.
