Used when someone adopts another person's behavior, method, or attitude as a model. Often positive, implying learning from a good example.

• 彼かれの勤きん勉べんさを見み習ならいたい。

  I want to follow his example of diligence.

• 先せん輩ぱいの仕し事ごとのやり方かたを見み習ならって、効こう率りつが上あがった。

  By imitating my senior's way of working, my efficiency improved.

Emphasizes acquiring a skill or knowledge by observing someone else do it, rather than through formal instruction.

• 料りょう理りは母ははの手てつきを見み習ならって覚おぼえた。

• 職しょく人にんの技わざは見み習ならうだけでは身みにつかない。

  A craftsman's skill cannot be acquired just by watching.
