negative electrode; negative pole; anode
Technical term used in electronics and electrochemistry. In a galvanic cell, the anode is the negative electrode, but in electrolysis the anode is positive; 負極 always refers to the negative terminal.
Please disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
Electrons flow out from the negative electrode.
陽極 (anode) can be positive or negative depending on the device; 負極 is unambiguously the negative terminal.
Compound of 負 (negative) and 極 (pole, electrode).
