Used for deliberately throwing oneself from a height, into water, or in front of a vehicle, often with suicidal intent. Also used figuratively for wholehearted dedication.

• 彼かれは橋はしから身みを投なげた。

  He threw himself off the bridge.

• 彼かの女じょは芸げい術じゅつに身みを投なげた。

  She threw herself into art.
