Used in workplace and organizational contexts for an official notice or order about appointment, transfer, promotion, dismissal, and similar personnel changes. Common collocations include 辞令が出る and 辞令を受ける.

A formal or somewhat old-fashioned noun for the words or phrasing used in speech or social interaction. In modern Japanese it is especially familiar in compounds such as 社交辞令 or 外交辞令, meaning conventional or diplomatic wording rather than plain sincerity.
