Samoan mullet goby
A species of goby (Mugilogobius abei) found in brackish and fresh waters of Japan and the western Pacific.
We collected Samoan mullet gobies at the river mouth.
Katakana spelling is the most common written form for this fish name.
Kanji spelling is rare and mostly used in taxonomic contexts; the word is usually written in kana.
Named after the Japanese zoologist Tokiharu Abe (阿部 宗明). The specific name 'abei' and the Japanese name アベハゼ both honor him.
