non-Euclidean space
A mathematical term for a space that does not satisfy Euclid's parallel postulate. Used in geometry and physics.
In non-Euclidean space, parallel lines can intersect.
Compound of 非 (hi, 'non-') + ユークリッド (Yūkuriddo, 'Euclid') + 空間 (kūkan, 'space'). A calque of English 'non-Euclidean space'.
