gray satin fabric
A traditional Japanese textile term for a gray satin, often used in kimono and obi. The name literally combines 'mouse' (鼠) with 'satin' (繻子).
This obi is made of gray satin fabric.
Compound of 鼠 (nezumi, 'mouse; gray') and 繻子 (jusu, 'satin'). The exact historical derivation is uncertain, but the term is conventionally associated with the gray color of the fabric.
