を押して・
を押して: someone goes ahead in spite of an illness or injury of their own, and the effort is usually respected. を押し切って: other people objected, and it was pushed through all the same.

Noun + を押して
Mostly an illness or injury: 病気, 病 (literary), けが, 高熱. Also 無理, sometimes 反対, and now and then bad weather (悪天候). Often written in kana: をおして.
Overriding opposition
Noun + を押し切って
Nearly always 反対: 親の反対, 周囲の反対, 反対意見.

- を押し切って can be told with sympathy or blame: a couple who married anyway, a ruling party that forced a bill through.

- Other people or yourself: 熱を押して出勤した, 親の反対を押し切って結婚した.
- Where you'll meet it
- News, sports reports, biographies. を押して is one to read: friends say 熱があるのに無理して来た. 反対を押し切って is everyday too.

My father attended the ceremony despite his illness.
The ruling party pushed the bill through over the objections.
An illness takes を押して
An illness can only be endured, not overridden. With 反対 both are said; を押し切って is far more common, and says the opposition was beaten.

Undeterred by the fierce blizzard, the rescue team continued searching for those who were missing.

Said as well as written, and often critical: someone doesn't care who is watching or what others think.
Not caring who was watching, the two of them hugged on the station platform.
