となったらとなればとなるとIf that becomes the case

These forms introduce a situation that would significantly change what must be done, expected, or considered if it actually came about or became the established case.

From possibility to consequences

The important idea is not simply “suppose this.” The speaker mentally treats the situation as something that has come about, then reassesses what follows. This makes the construction especially natural for major decisions, changes of plan, new responsibilities, and circumstances that create practical difficulties.

Typical consequences

Notice how each second clause follows directly from the new situation.

FormCommon tendency
となったらReadily suggests a concrete future occasion: if or when that situation actually happens.
となればOften suits a reasoned condition and the response that would become necessary.
となるとOften introduces a considered consequence or a reaction that regularly follows once the situation is treated as real.

These are overlapping tendencies, not strict tense rules. Context can matter more than the choice of ending.

Becoming the case versus merely supposing

となると views the change as becoming an established situation and focuses on its practical consequences. By contrast, とすると simply adopts the clause as an assumption for reasoning. In English both may be translated with “if,” so pay attention to this difference in viewpoint.
