させてほしいWant someone to allow an action

Although the grammar literally presents a desired situation, saying it directly to the person in control normally communicates a request. Desire statement or direct permission request?

させてほしい presents being allowed to act as something the speaker wants. By contrast, させてください directly asks the listener to grant permission. Both can be direct, but their grammatical framing is different.
