からStarting point: from, since, starting at

から marks the point where a time, route, or ordered range begins. Depending on the context, it corresponds to “from,” “since,” or “starting at.”

How it works

The expression immediately before から is the starting boundary. It may be a time, a place of origin, or a position in an ordered series such as a page, question number, or price.

Starting point or reason?

On this page, から follows a noun or similar expression that names a starting boundary. When the same particle follows a clause and means “because,” it marks a reason and belongs to a different grammar point.
