Translation guide
The English word "registration" covers several distinct situations: signing up for an account or service, enrolling in a course or event, officially recording something (like a vehicle or marriage), and the physical check-in process at a conference or hotel. Japanese uses different words and phrases for each.
The act of creating an account or joining a service, often online.
The most common and general term for registration, especially for accounts, memberships, and databases. Can be used as a noun or a suru-verb (登録する).

登録 (touroku) is for entering information into a system or list, often ongoing (like a membership). 申し込み (moushikomi) is for applying to participate in a specific event or course, often with a deadline. Use 登録 for accounts, databases, and official records; use 申し込み for seminars, classes, and reservations.
While 登録 can mean registration, it is not used for hotel check-in. Use チェックイン or 受付 instead. Saying ホテルに登録する sounds like you are registering the hotel in a database.
