Archaic humble usage meaning to be noticed or recognized by a superior, or simply to be visible. Not used in modern Japanese outside of historical or literary contexts.
古い文書では、「お目にかかる」が「認められる」の意で使われることがある。
In old documents, お目にかかる can be used to mean 'to be recognized'.
