Attaches to the -masu stem of a verb to express that one tires of doing something, finds it too much, or doesn't know what to do with it. Often used when a task or situation becomes overwhelming or boring.
考えあぐねて、友達に相談した。
I tired of thinking about it and consulted a friend.
He is at a loss with the sheer amount of work.
