redundancy (information theory)
Technical term in computing and information theory; refers to the amount of redundancy in a message or data.
By reducing the redundancy of the communication channel, efficient data transfer becomes possible.
In this encoding method, the redundancy is kept to a minimum.
情報量 means 'amount of information', a related concept in information theory, but 冗長量 focuses on the redundant part.
Compound of 冗長 (redundant) + 量 (amount). A modern technical term coined for information theory.
