Great Thanksgiving Festival; first rice offering by a new emperor
A Shinto ceremony performed once per imperial reign, shortly after enthronement, in which the new emperor offers newly harvested rice to the gods. Also known as 大嘗会 (だいじょうえ).

The Daijōsai is the first Niiname-sai (Harvest Festival) performed by the emperor after enthronement.
The Daijōsai of the Reiwa era was held in November 2019.
