also: こなたさま
pronoun
Archaic polite second-person pronoun. こなさま is an abbreviated form used primarily by women; こなたさま is the fuller reading. Not used in modern Japanese.
「こなさま、お待ちくださいませ」と、昔の女性は言った。
"Please wait, you (honorable one)," said a woman of old.
Derived from 此方 (こなた, 'this direction/person') + honorific 様 (さま). The abbreviated reading こなさま arose in women's speech.
