A set phrase used to strongly deny a suggestion or idea as ridiculous, impossible, or unthinkable. Often used in response to praise or an excessive proposal, similar to 'No way!' or 'Don't be ridiculous!'

"You're a genius!" "Don't be absurd; it's just hard work."
