Intransitive; describes something being dry-roasted or parched, such as coffee beans, tea leaves, or nuts. The transitive counterpart is 煎る (いる).
コーヒー豆がいい香りで煎れている。
The coffee beans are roasting with a nice aroma.
煎れたてのごまをすり鉢ですった。
I ground freshly roasted sesame seeds in a mortar.

Archaic intransitive use for feeling irritated or annoyed. Not used in modern Japanese; the common modern equivalent is いらいらする or 腹が立つ.
古語では「心が煎れる」と書いて、気が立つさまを表した。
In classical language, 心が煎れる was written to express a state of irritation.
