In mahjong, a counter that determines the base points of a hand; each han doubles the score (or adds a multiplier).

• この手ては三さん翻はんある。

  This hand has three han.

• 役やく満まんは十じゅう三さん翻はん以い上じょうで計けい算さんされることもある。

  A yakuman is sometimes calculated as 13 han or more.
