Used when someone says insincere nice things, often to gain favor or be polite. The お世辞 part itself means flattery or empty compliment.

• 彼かれは上じょう司しにお世せ辞じを言いうのが上手じょうずだ。

  He is good at flattering his boss.

• お世せ辞じを言いっても無む駄だですよ。

  It's no use paying empty compliments.
