Japanese dumpling soup
A traditional Japanese soup containing dango (dumplings), often with vegetables and miso or soy-sauce broth. Regional variations exist.
Dango-jiru is a local dish of Oita Prefecture.
On cold days, I crave hot dango-jiru.
味噌汁 is miso soup, a more common everyday soup; 団子汁 specifically features dumplings and may use various broths.

Compound of 団子 (dango, 'dumpling') and 汁 (shiru, 'soup'). The reading じる is a rendaku form of しる.
