expression, na-adjective
Used to ask about the nature, type, or manner of something. Often followed by な to modify a noun, or used adverbially with に.
それはどのような本ですか。
What kind of book is that?
どのようにして駅まで行けばいいですか。
How should I go to the station?
More casual and common in spoken Japanese; どのよう is slightly more formal and often used in written or polite contexts.
Adverb meaning 'how'; どのように is a more formal adverbial form with a similar meaning.
Compound of interrogative prefix どの (which) and よう (様, 'appearance, manner'). The kanji spellings reflect the components but are rarely used.
