むさい

filthy; squalid; dirty; foul

Colloquial adjective describing a person, place, or thing as grimy, unkempt, or physically repulsive. Often used for a scruffy appearance or a messy, unclean room. Related to むさくるしい, but shorter and more casual.

  His room is so filthy there's nowhere to step.

• あのむさいおっさん、いつも同おなじ服ふくを着きている。

  That scruffy old guy always wears the same clothes.
