Yamato court; Yamato kingship
Historical term referring to the early Japanese polity centered in the Yamato region (around present-day Nara) during the Kofun and Asuka periods. Often used in discussions of state formation and the imperial lineage.
The Yamato court is thought to have been established during the Kofun period.
