Used to indicate that something is true for the most part, or that the main reason/component is as stated. Common in both spoken and written Japanese.

• この地ち域いきの産さん業ぎょうは主しゅとして農のう業ぎょうに依い存ぞんしている。

  The industry in this region depends mainly on agriculture.

• 彼かれの成せい功こうは主しゅとして努ど力りょくの結けっ果かだ。

  His success is primarily the result of hard work.
